Project 4 - achievements

Did you manage to 'make space move'?
I think I managed to make space move in the final stage, where I developed the designs into something completely different. Although most of this was done using computer software, I hope by using this method it will broaden my design skills, and one day I will be able to achieve similar results without the software.

Are you pleased with the drawings you did in Stage 3?
whilst I don't think I'm a very good at drawing, I think my style of simplifying images and creating blocks of colours worked okay for this project. However I did find it very difficult to separate the textures and colours and shapes, I think this may be due to my colour block approach, and the way I see mainly colours not shapes and textures. I shall be looking at the work from other OCA students, and will try to learn and practice how to do this.

Were you able to use your drawings successfully as a basis for further work? Comment on this with a note of potential ideas. Are there any other things you would like to try?
I was able to use my drawings to create some very interesting patterns that I could see being used as printing projects, but in hindsight I fill my focus on colour limited how I view the drawings. Maybe if I was to follow this process again I could look more textures. For example the Italy countryside image had textures of Olive trees and wavy leaves. the Christmas table image had reflective glass and long hanging ribbon. And finally the still life image as a iridescent balloon, bumpy pearls, and wood bark on the pencils.

You now have a good working method - do you feel confident that you can carry on working in this way on your own?
I feel I need a lots of practice using this working methods, until I feel confident to work this way my own happily.
