Weaving experiments

My first experiment with weaving is using a dipped pink / purple wool and some orange wool.

I used my little girls toy loom, so the sample was small, but big enough to experiment with curved wefts. I made the "mistake" of adding a 2 way curve, which resulted in a bump in the weave.

Whilst I wasn't intending on doing this, and I'm sure weavings are meant to be flat (i'm sure i could press it flat), i actually like the way it sits, and think it adds interest to the piece. Overall for my first attempt, I was pretty pleased with it.

I have been seeing weaving possibility's everywhere ... I was in a cafe the other day and couldn't help stealing this gorgeous packaging paper (I love the way the light and shadows play through the holes) and then spent the afternoon weaving blue ribbon through the holes.
