Research point - Van Gogh pen and ink

For the research point, I choose Van Gogh's pen and ink Bush in the Park at Arles: The Poet's Garden II. September, 1888

I liked this image, as whilst it was made up of simple lines it still shows great detail. I'm particularly like the way Van Gogh  has used groups of repeating lines to form the objects. I also like the way he has used the negative and positive space and the way some areas are white paper with black lines (grass) and some areas are black lines with some white paper showing through (sky).

It's interesting to note, that whilst this appears to be just a simple sketch, Van Gogh's distinctive style still shows through.
