Project 16 - Exercise 44 - statues

I had a few attempts of sketching local statues.

The first was one as stone angel, which I sketched in pen, then added a wash of colour to give depth. I was happy with the shape, but couldn't get the face at all.

I then had several attempts to sketch Damien Hirst's Verity. I used inktense blocks to try and get the amazing colour of bronze, and the effects the sea has had on her. Again I couldn't do the face at all (am hoping the next part of the course will help improve that!) but was sort of happy with the rest of the body.

The main challenge I am having is trying the draw outdoors, both in terms of not wanting people to see what I'm doing and the weather - especially the sea wind / seaspray near Verity!
