Project 22. Exercise 55. the clothed figure

I attempted several sketches of pieces of fabric.

The first was a crumpled dishcloth. I tried starting off small so i could capture the hole piece of cloth, in hope this would make the task easier. I started sketching the outline then added lines were the folds were. This made no sense until I started to add quick lines of areas were the light and dark fell.

The next couple of sketches were close up sections from a large piece of folded fabric. The first one was in charcoal the second in pencil. The first sketch was too close up and it is hard to make out what the images is. The second image was more successful, but again without being in context, it could be anything. I think I would of been more successful drawing a whole piece of fabric and the chair, so it gave a better idea of how the fabric was hanging.
